Versatile Estonian female jazz singer in good trio company. Karmen Rõivassep is an Estonian jazz singer who has lived in Denmark for the last couple of years. She has a clear, distinct sound and is a playful performer. Karmen Rõivassep grew up as a pianist, which has given her a great understanding for jazz harmonies in her improvisation. Her music is influenced by modern jazz, but also has its roots in energetic house music and Latin American genres. Despite her young age, she has already made a name for herself on the jazz scene. She is the lead singer and composer of Karmen Rõivassep Group, where she developed her identity in the jazz genre. In 2016, the group travelled to Cairo to perform at Cairo Jazz Festival. Apart from her own band, Karmen Rõivassep has also worked in many other constellations ranging from jazz duos and experimental trios to big bands, which underlines her versatility as a jazz musician. At the concert, she will be accompanied by Simon Eskildsen Trio featuring the German saxophonist Benjamin Himpel, who are also on the line-up of this year's festival.
