World renowned and critically acclaimed French-American jazz star visits Musikhuset. Madeleine Peyroux was born in the USA but moved to Paris at a young age where she performed with a band of street musicians in the city's Latin Quarter. She broke through the sound barrier in 1996 with the debut album Dreamland, which received rave reviews and sold 200.000 copies. In 2004, she returned to the scene with the album Careless Love, which was once again praised by audiences and critics, and sold more than a million copies. The record was followed by several other successful albums and she was awarded Best International Jazz Artist at the BBC Jazz Awards. Madeleine Peyroux has always been a singer who goes her own way due to several of her disappearance acts, as well as her shy and eccentric mannerism. Now, her path has led her to Musikhuset Aarhus. With a new album out in 2016 and a voice that has often been compared to the legendary Billie Holiday, a topical and supreme jazz singer will be visiting us this year.
