A tribute to the legacy of Monk. Karmen Rõivassepp and Daniel Sommer have collaborated on many different occasions before, and this time they have invited fellow musicians Simon Eskildsen and Jens Mikkel Madsen to pay tribute to Thelonious Monk’s legacy. There could be no better timing for showing their take on Monk’s unique compositions, as he would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. Collaboration between those four talented musicians leads the music in unpredictable directions and allows them to explore the many twists of Monk’s compositions. You can expect to hear it all – the playful melodies, unpredictable harmonies and inventive improvisations.
