A fearless stab at swinging jazz in the modern world. At last year's jazz festival, Simon Eskildsen played for the first time with his new super trio. Since then, the trio has become thoroughly warmed up and recorded a live album with Eskildsen's composition. His tunes draw on the great masters of the genre, such as Thelonius Monk, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Keith Jarrett, and Brad Mehldau. Their debut album is right around the corner and the trio is getting ready to take a fearless stab at how to play swinging jazz in the modern world. Pianist Simon Eskildsen is known on the music scene for the afrobeat collective AddisAbabaBand, Himpel / Eskildsen Duo alongside German saxophonist Benjamin Himpel and who recently released an album, playing the organ in OrgelDuo, and a long line of other works on the Danish jazz and improv scene. Bass player Thomas Sejthen is also known from various performances. He has become noted for his great talent for raising the bar musically in Uffe Steen Trio and in the band Indra. Thomas Sejthen is also an integral part of the groundbreaking Aarhus-based band Admiral Awesome, one of recent year's fresh additions to the Aarhus jazz scene. Drummer Daniel Summer recently released his freely improvised duo album with a long line of features from Denmark and abroad, such as guitarist Marc Ducret, and pianist and musical legend Butch Lacy. Daniel Summer also plays in the Aarhus-based Ornithopter, OrgelDuo, Live Foyn Kvartet, and many other musical acquaintances. His energetic and imaginative drumming is a blessing for this trio.
