A repetition of last year's well-visited and well-played intimate concert. Jens Jefsen is a familiar face to jazz audiences in Aarhus, where he has performed with jazz icons from Denmark and abroad. Here, he joined forces with the excellent pianist Magnus Hjorth. Jens Jefsen is a sought-after bass player focusing on jazz and with a slightly lyrical style. During the 70s and 80s, he played with a number of American jazz greats such as Dexter Gordon, Charlie Chavers, Ben Webster, Slide Hampton, Johnny Griffin, Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, and Harry Sweets Edison. Additionally, Jens Jefsen has performed with numerous trend-setting Danish bands and musicians for more than 40 years. He has released nine solo albums, most recently A Secret Sigh in 2016. Magnus Hjort was born and raised in Laholm on the western coast of Sweden. He started his professional career in 1999, attended the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, and formed his own trio in 2006. In 2007, Magnus Hjorth participated in the large international jazz competition Getxo Jazz with the quartet People Are Machines, where he was named best soloist of the competition by both audience and panel. Magnus Hjorth is also busy as a sideman and has performed and recorded with the likes of Chris Potter, DR Big Band, Marius Neset Golden Xplosion, Mads la Cour Im Beruf, Sidsel Storm Band, and Malene Mortensen Band.
