Jazz quintet with a strong cast performs

Jens Klüver, former bandleader and artistic director of Klüvers Big Band for 35 years, now known as Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, is once again active as a musician and regularly performs with his own bands and as a guest conductor and soloist in big bands all over Denmark.

Additionally, he has a thing for professional, up-coming musicians, such as Miriam Mandipira, a recurring element in many of Jens Klüver's projects, and, as of recently, Ebens Tjalve, who will be meeting the Aarhus audience once again in 2018 in the Bispejazz tent during the jazz festival.

Esben Tjalve is a jazz pianist and composer. He earned a bachelor's degree at the Royal Academy of Music in 2014 and later a master's in composition from The Guildhall School of Music. During his London years, he composed music for the BBC, Universal, and EMI, and was active on the English jazz scene with bands such as Henrik Jensen's Followed By Thirteen, James Allsopp, Rory Simmons (Jamie Cullum) and singer such as Cecilia Stalin and Kristina Train (singer on Herbie Hancock's Imagine project).

Hannes Riepler has long been an established name in English jazz and has recently released a record with American tenor saxophonist Chris Cheek. Esben Tjalve and Hannes Riepler have been part of the English jazz scene for many years.

Bass player and composer Torben Bjørnskov performs around 100 - 150 concerts a year and has toured Denmark, several European nations, Mexico, Canada, and the USA. He has collaborated with musicians from Norway, Sweden, England, Germany, Switzerland, Africa, and the USA. The concerts have been held at small as well as large venues, such as North Sea Jazz Festival and Royal Festival Hall, London. Torben Bjørnskov is an associate professor at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus / Aalborg.

Drummer Andreas Fryland started playing drums as a nine-year-old and studied at the Royal Conservatorie in The Hague. He lives in Copenhagen and has been active in the Danish and European jazz scenes for more than 20 years as a musician and bandleader. He has performed with artists such as Kenny Werner, Teddy Charles, Sam Yahel, and Aaron Parks.
