A poetic contribution to the Nordic jazz scene

Balvig / Bülow / Christensen started out as musical playmates six years ago. Their goal was to explore jazz and improvisation. The result has been an extremely tight ensemble and a unique collective sound.

The trio's debut album Associated with Water received heaps of praise, including in London Jazz News and Raidió Teilifís Éireann (Ireland's National Public Service Broadcaster).

The music ranges from liquid jazz to classical music and folklore in a poetic contribution to the Nordic jazz scene. It includes emotional, impressionist colours, Balkan-inspired bass lines, modern jazz themes, and, at times, Chopin-like rubato bits.

This trio focuses on finding a new direction in jazz. To develop new little 'islands' of musical ingenuity and interaction, as well as making poetic and energetic improvisational choices that unpretentiously complement the given instrumentation.
