Big band collective with a unique sound

With 22 musicians and a rare, modern big band sound, Blood Sweat Drum + Bass has left its unmissable mark on the professional Danish big band scene.

For this concert, they will be joined by the award-winning tenor saxophonist Fredrik Lundin and drummer Stefan Pasborg. Blood Sweat Drum + Bass has been around since 2001 with most of its original line-up still intact, functioning as a collective and working on finding a special sound for the band, which also contains many personal soloists.

The repertoire consists of original tunes and all arrangments have been specially written for the band by Jens Christian 'Chappe' Jensen, the artistic director of the big band.

The band will play songs from the new release Concierto de Scheherazade with the soloists Turid Guldin (voc) and Maher Mahmoud (oud).

Additionally, they will present a brand new collaboration with drummer Stefan Pasborg, who has reinterpreted some of Igor Stravinsky’s symphonic masterpieces for a large experimental jazz band together with the bandleader. The new arrangements build on the trio The Firebird’s covers as well as Stravinsky’s original band scores. As a special treat, saxophonist Fredrik Lundin will partake in this celebration of the incredible music of Stravinsky.
