Lucie Hendry Trio | Scottish Neo Folk with Nordic Jazz

Scottish lever harpist Lucie Hendry is taking the folk music scene by storm with her innovative collaboration alongside Danish jazz musicians, Dennis Iversen on electric guitar and Christoffer Skovhus on drums.

Lucie Hendry, an upcoming harpist in the world of Scottish folk music, has joined forces with her Danish counterparts to create a captivating fusion of traditional Scottish folk with contemporary jazz influences, inspired by her time living in Denmark since 2021. The Lucie Hendry Trio skilfully blends uplifting melodies, unexpected rhythms, and intricate musical textures to offer a fresh interpretation of folk music. Each member of the trio contributes their unique musical style, resulting in an ambient, electronic, and melodic journey that will evoke a wide range of emotions. The trio's synergy culminated in Lucie Hendry's debut solo album, Land of Eden, which was released in June 2023. Recorded by the trio, the album has been met with widespread acclaim and they embarked on a tour in Denmark with performances at renowned festivals such as Godtfolk Festival, Aarhus and Copenhagen Jazz Festival. In October 2023, the trio ventured to Scotland and played ten concerts around the country while delivering masterclasses at prestigious institutes: the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music. They played at Celtic Connections 2024 alongside roots band, Low Lily, and Grammy award winner, Alison Brown. Notably, music from Land of Eden has received airplay on national radio in both the UK and Denmark, featuring on stations such as BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Scotland, and DR P8. Dedicated to advancing and sharing harp music, Lucie is rapidly making a name for herself in the global harp community. She was a finalist in the BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2021 competition, and nominated for ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’ at the 2023 Scots Trad Music Awards. ‘Scottish lever harpist Lucie Hendry's pastoral folk-jazz overflows with charm and melody’ - Bandcamp New & Notable July 2023 ‘It really breaks traditional barriers in a very positive way. The fact that two different genres can intertwine with such great effect is a tribute to the hard work of all three musicians’ - Caledon Radio Website Facebook Instagram YouTube Soundcloud Email
