Lumi (SE)

Moderne nordisk kvartetjazz

"There’s a structure to these tunes easy to follow, but each is delivered with a looseness that makes them feel wide open and free to roam where they please. Lumi deliver strong takes on thick melodies, then go about stretching and twirling them around in any way that amuses them to do so … and often with a boisterousness that’s positively addictive.”

(Bird is the worm).

Vi glæder os over at kunne præsentere LUMI for publikum på Aarhus Jazz Festival. Rigtig god fornøjelse.

Modern Nordic jazz quartet

The young Swedish quartet LUMI creates lyrical and evocative music that defers to tradition but includes a distinctive and modern Nordic jazz sound.

In the band's own words, they 'wish to describe that certain feeling that sometimes appears on a melancholic October night. A night, where you are on your way home, having just missed the bus, and your head fills with thoughts of romance and mischief. A feeling of emptiness accompanied by a vibrant sense of purpose. That feeling suddenly ends once you walk in the door.'

Their release A Drunken Love Poem from 2017 was praised for the good melancholic compositions, which are handled with competence and playfulness in a fascinating ensemble.

About the music:

We look forward to introducing Lumi to the Aarhus Jazz Festival audience. Enjoy,
