Jazz music is packed with tradition but is also always on the lookout for new challenges and experiments. These will also be part of this year’s Aarhus Jazz Festival.
For the sixth year in a row, we present the concert series New Directions, where classical music meets jazz. Recorder virtuoso Michala Petri meets Marilyn Mazur and the Brazilian guitarist Daniel Murray in Helsingør Theater, where you can also hear Århus Sinfonietta play the first performance of new works by Irene Becker and Emil Palme.
AUT – Aarhus Unge Tonekunstnere presents Confrontations and Conversations at USE studio, where impressions from the jazz festival turn into audio and video art. You can also find boundary-pushing jazz music at COLABS in Jægergårdsgade, A-Huset on Godsbanen or at Udstillingsstedet Spanien 19C by the harbour.
Atlas presents first-rate international free jazz with the band FUSK and you can hear Yngel and Jeppe Zeeberg and the Absolute Pinnacle of Human Achievement at Radar.
Finally, a unique and evocative experience awaits early risers as Christian Windfeld performs Rotunda Live in Mindeparken.
