The government´s announcement at the press conference on April 6, which prohibits the organization of major events and festivals until August, will also have consequences for the Aarhus Jazz Festival 2020, which cannot be carried out as usual.
We are incredibly sad that it is not possible to carry out our fantastic jazz festival in Aarhus, which brings together the whole city. Not least on behalf of all the musicians, organizers, volunteers and audiences concerned - without whom a festival would never be possible. At the same time, of course, we respect the decision of the authorities, which is part of the fight against COVID-19 in Denmark.
Right now, the secretariat and the executive commitee of Aarhus Jazz Festival are working to get an overview of the consequences and possible opportunities for the festival, including how it is possible to support organizers who may be able to conduct smaller jazz concerts in Aarhus during the jazz festival period, if Denmark is opened up more than is the case now. Right now, the 10-person assembly ban is valid until May 10.
We are now in dialogue with all interested parties and the executive commitee Aarhus Jazz Festival will meet after Easter on Friday 17. April to discuss the situation.
