This year there is plenty of international jazz to experience at the Aarhus Jazz Festival. During the week you can experience some of jazz's big stars and jazz from Japan, the USA, Europe and Scandinavia
At this year's festival, there is plenty of opportunity to experience some of jazz's biggest stars and listen to jazz from all over the world. Here you get a small selection of the many international orchestras that visit the festival. Discover, among others, American Cécile McLorin Salvant, who is one of the greatest jazz vocalists of our time, and is often compared to iconic legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Dianne Reeves. At the concert in Musikhuset, you will experience songs inspired by her French/Haitian roots and be enchanted by Cécile's inspiring song universe.
During Musikhuset Swinger you can also come to a concert with Randy Brecker and the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Randy Brecker is a Grammy-winning American trumpeter who has been a central figure on the international jazz scene for decades. The concerts help mark the 50th anniversary of the influential fusion jazz band Brecker Brothers, for which Randy Brecker is particularly well known. The American saxophonist Loren Stillman also performs several concerts during the Aarhus Jazz Festival. He has distinguished himself as an innovative voice in the contemporary jazz and has taught and toured all over the world. During the festival you can experience him together with the Odense Jazz Orchestra in the Musikhuset or with the Mikkel Ploug Group at Erling's Jazz- og Ølbar.
At the Aarhus Jazz Festival you can meet musicians from all over the world. From Japan to the USA, Europe and of course some from Scandinavia. Lisa Ekdahl, Amanda Ginsburg, Stacy Kent, Anders Jormin, TrueMendous, Joel Frahm, Berlin Brain Flippers, Vilnius JJazz Ensemble... and we could go on.
