Modern jazz based on Carl Nielsen's classic compositions. The Firebirds were formed by drummer Stefan Pasborg in 2014 following his longstanding desire of creating new music inspired by the great classical composers. Thus, he assembled the trio, which, apart from himself, consists of saxophonists and clarinettist Anders Banke and pianist and keyboard player Anders Filipsen. In recent years, the trio has toured Denmark and performed at festivals in Serbia, France, Germany, and Norway. The Firebird's well-received debut album primarily focused on the music of Igor Stravinsky, whereas this upcoming concert takes them back home to Carl Nielsen's extensive work in a soundscape of jazz, surf, and avant-garde, performed with respect to the composer's original vision.
