Late Night European Jazz Jam – Jesper Løvdal (DK)

Welcome to the jazz festival's musical free-for-all. Tonight's jam host is Jesper Løvdal, famous for his warm tone on the tenor saxophone, as well as his vital and intimate expression, and his will to become one with his music. He one of his generation's most versatile and notable saxophone talents and his playing style reflects the entirety of jazz history. From Saturday 15 July to Thursday 20 July the traditional nightly jazz jam takes place at HeadQuarters. HeadQuarters is your living room in the city, hidden away in a cosy old basement with retro interior and candlelight. On Friday 21 and Saturday 22 July, Late Night Jazz Jam moves onto the stage at the food tent South African Market Place on Officerspladsen by Ridehuset, hosted by Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. During the festival jam sessions, Danish and international musicians from near and far join together in new constellations and partake in a musical free-for-all to their own and the audience's delight. Every night has a different jam host, who will welcome musicians and audience to partake in the musical festivities. A competent band performs an opening set. Then the jam begins. Bring your instrument or 'grease' your vocals, and become part of the musical celebration. On stage, there will be a piano, drum kit, guitar and bass amp, as well as microphones. There will also be a sound engineer to provide technical assistance. HeadQuarter is a local partner of the European 12 points festival 16 - 18 July. On these nights, there will be a special Late Night European Jazz Jam, where musicians from the 12 participating countries will jam together.
