Young saxophonist with a promising career. The 20-year-old alto saxophonist Oilly Wallace is already making a name for himself on the Danish jazz scene despite his young age. Is career really took off when he started playing with the Norwegian drummer Snorre Kirk's band. In 2014, they recorded the album Europa, which was nominated for a DMA for Danish Jazz Record of the Year. Since then, Oilly Wallace has performed with loads of big Danish jazz names such as Carsten Dahl, Thomas Blachman, Lennart Ginman, Jan Harbeck, Kjeld Lauritsen, Per Gade, Jesper Løvdal, Ben Besiakov, Christina Von Bülow, and Ole Streenberg. Oilly Wallace is also part of the Berlin-based band Florian Menzel Quintet and has performed with international artists such as Alvin Queen, Winard Harper, Kelvin Sholar, Gerard Presencer, and Uri Ginsel. Wallace released his first record in December, which received five stars in Berlingske Tidende and was nominated for a DMA for New Danish Jazz Artist of the Year. Oilly Wallace is inspired by American jazz tradition and names such as Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, and Dexter Gordon. He brings along a band of some of the best young Danish jazz musicians.
