A combination of the Nordic sound with modern international jazz. Vulkan is a collaboration between five characteristic vocals from Denmark and Australia, which each make a unique contribution to the band. Danes Jens Fisker and Jakob Sørensen represent the Nordic influences while the Australians Luke Sweeting, Maximiliam Alduca, and Aidan Lowe play more modern jazz. Nordische Musik wrote: 'Vulkan makes a great combination of the familiar Nordic sound with fresh international modern jazz.' Jens Fisker, Jakob Sørensen, and Luke Sweeting first met in Berlin in 2013, where they became interested in playing together. After a two-week tour of Australia in 2015, they have planned another go in 2017, this time through Denmark and Germany. They go on tour with the album Venting, which is the quintet's first international release, and which has already been praised in the international press. 'The music is poetic and pleasant', wrote Niels Overgaard, JazzNyt. All the musicians have been received recognition in the form of awards, most recently Jakob Sørensen for New Jazz Artist of the Year 2017. The five musicians all contribute with compositions that feature nerve and passion.
