An inspiring meeting of genres and art forms. The House is a festival that takes place in an old, raw workshop, which used to be the smithy of the city's gasworks. Here, a line of musicians will be presented on behalf of their musical ideas and projects, rather than genres. Some performances will be composed and others improvised. The idea is to contribute to a dialogue between genres and art forms, and hopefully inspire each other. Anja Nedremo is a Norwegian saxophonist based in Aarhus, where she studied classical and contemporary music at The Royal Academy of Music. She is passionate about working with spontaneous art. Therefore, she allies herself with composers who are not solely interested in exploring and experimenting with music, but willing to involve other media forms such as, sound, video and picture, into the process. She focuses on developed new and alternative techniques and ideas. C.Ph. Back – Flute sonata in A-minor, is a solo flute piece written in 1747, but which has been transcribed for soprano saxophone for the occasion. It contains three movements, one slow and two fast ones. Note that although the piece was written for a solo instrument, the music sometimes utilises three different voices. For this early show, Anja Nedremo will play the following: C.PH. Bach – Flute sonata (1747). Thierry Escaich – Lutte (1994). Loïc Destremau – New piece (2017). The House is curated by Cæcilie Balling and Maria Isabel Edlund.
