Emil Otto Daugaard (DK)
Between disharmonies and melodic twists
Though he may be young (born in 1994), Emil Otto Daugaard is inspired by crooner tradition, particularly big jazz singers such as Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, and Harry Connick Jr.
Harry Connick Jr. is not just a big inspiration as a singer, but also as a pianist, which creates resemblances to the piano greats Art Tatum and James Booker and their challenging and disharmonic musical worlds. Once these elements are mixed with old-school New Orleans rock & roll piano, you get the secret ingredient in Emil Otto Daugaard's New Orleans gumbo.
Emil Otto Daugaard has studied under a number of experienced pianists, including Chuck Berry's Scottish pianist Stan Urban, as well as the Danish crooner Mads Mathias.
