International free jazz of the finest sort

FUSK is an international quartet led by the Danish drummer and composer Kasper Tom. The band has released three acclaimed albums on German and Polish record labels and has toured most of Europe since 2008.

The band counts two of Denmark's foremost rhythm group personalities: the excellent bass player Richard Andersson and the Svendborg-based drummer Kasper Tom. In addition, two prominent European improvisers: the legendary German bass clarinetist Rudi Mahall and the amazing Polish trumpeter Tomasz Dabrowski - both unique mediators on their respective instruments.

FUSK plays drummer Kasper Tom's music, which in recent years has received heaps of praise by European jazz reporters. The band's latest LP The Jig Is Up is featured on "top 10 best of 2018" lists with both The Belgian Radio (BRF), Polish Jazzblogspot and American Cadence Magazine.

The sound of Danish jazz year 2019 (support)

The octet Johannes Gammelgaard's ABC presents a fresh bid for the sound of Danish jazz year 2019.

With its feet firmly planted in the Danish songbook, the band goes on musical endeavors, where impressions from American free jazz are mixed with ideas from the contemporary Swedish jazz scene.

Singable melodies are replaced by heavy bass lines and subtle improvisations, creating e a broad-spectrum musical experience with room for both play and seriousness.

In the band's latest project, Johannes Gammelgaard has written music for seven selected poems by the Danish poet and designer Piet Hein. The poems touch upon existential themes such as time, eternity and humanity's place in the world and are thus just as current today as when  Piet Hein wrote them back in the 1940s.
