Uffe Steen & Peter Vuust (DK)
Sublime duo collaboration in the borderlands between blues and jazz
Uffe Steen and Peter Vuust belong to the absolute Danish jazz elite and appear this afternoon at Salling Rooftop as a duo with a number of melodic and swinging songs from the borderlands between blues and jazz.
The pace will sometimes be exhilarating and with equilibristic play, but there will also be time for beautiful ballads.
Uffe Steen is one of the best and most unique guitarists, known for a very special and wild technique due to the fact that he plays the guitar inverted. Not least, he is known for his intimate and engaging playing style.
Throughout his long career, he has played with a large number of acclaimed jazz and blues artists and has with his CDs with the likes of Adam Nussbaum on drums gained international recognition.
Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg, head of the Center for Music in the Brain and is also one of the country's busiest sidemen. He has appeared on more than 90 records and with international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson and Jukkis Uotila.
Peter Vuust is known for his groovy and responsive backing as well as an extremely melodious solo play, and as a composer and bass player, he has released six albums, most recently the CD Leaves of Love featuring Veronica Mortensen (voc), Peter Asplund (trp) and Lars Jansson (p).
