Michael Bladt – Next Step (DK)
Melodious and virtuosic jazz
The Danish composer and saxophonist Michael Bladt has created a large number of inspirational jazz pieces on his three solo releases. Most recently, on the album Next Step (2015).
The compositions invite the listener into Michael Bladt's melodious and virtuosic jazz world, which is inspired by a combination of Nordic and American jazz.
Michael Bladt has been employed at Aarhus Jazz Orchestra for over 22 years and he draws his inspiration from several genres, which is reflected in the different artists he has played with, such as Radioens Big Band, John Scofield and Lukas Graham.
"Next Step" is presented to Aarhus Jazz Festival in its strongest form (see Line-up).
On Next Step, reviewers wrote:
“The greatest pleasure is hearing Bladt's confident tenor sax. The Aarhus-based Michael Brecker plays without hesitation and doubt."
(Niels Overgaard, Jazznyt).
"His sound is beautiful and the well-groomed playing style is rhythmically well-founded, and constantly searching, making things happen."
(Peter Rahbæk, Jazz Special).
