Randers Big Band (DK)
Bigband with swing roots – but under constant development
Randers Big Band arose in 1980 when Palle Hundborg founded the band.
The band has since undergone a great musical development. Not least over the many years leading up to 2011 under Ole Koch Sørensen's musical management, whose tenacious and motivating commitment has contributed to Randers Big Band being considered among the country's best-playing big bands, particularly within traditional swing music.
Arranger and trumpeter Jesper Riis took over the management from 2011-2012 and included many different styles on the repertoire.
From 2012 until the beginning of 2018, the band was led by Nicolai Bøgelund, who, as an effective whip, started a myriad of various projects, including recording the band's latest album Live - Live with the singer Live Foyn Friis.
Peter Bram is now the daily band manager.
Over the years, Randers Big Band has participated in many festivals in Denmark and abroad and toured in Sweden, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Brazil and Canada and elsewhere. Most recently, the big band has been in London.
The programme for the day will include the band's standard repertoire and new arrangements seasoned with the solos by the big band's soloists.
