Flensborg/Venndt Duo feat. Jacinta Madsen – Børnejazz på Dokk1 (DK)
Free play and improv with music, sound and drawing
The award-winning Flensburg/Venndt Duo has been creating a personal musical universe for nearly ten years.
The duo mixes original compositions with Danish songs, hymns, French musette music, circus music, classical music and much more.
The music is based on a frosty day in Vejle, a mobile phone jingle, a hymn by Carl Nielsen, a French dessert or something completely different.
The universe of sound is created by piano, double bass, mouth harp, kalimba, recorder, chime and, not least, melodica, and caters to both children and adults - and everyone in between.
Flensburg/Venndt Duo has played more than 200 concerts Danish schools and won a DMA in the category Children's Jazz, in 2018. However, this concert will be out of the ordinary.
The duo will be expanded into a trio when the artist Jacinta Madsen accompanies them. She plays along and improvises in tune with the musicians, and hopefully introduces new and unknown worlds.
The event is free, but there are limited seats at the concert, so registration is required. It takes place via Dokk1's ticket system: (link follows). Location: Lille Sal, Dokk1.
Children's jazz at Dokk1 is a collaboration between Aarhus Jazz Festival, Dokk1 and Aarhus Music School.
