Trommerum Express - Børnejazz (DK)
A journey through the world of percussion that you don't want to miss
Travel the glove with 80 percussion instruments in a whirlwind of drums and sound effects. Experience the sound of instruments that you didn't know existed and see them for yourself.
Listen to the sounds of the jungle's undergrowth and Asia's evocative gongs, the conga rhythms from Cuba and the Pandero from Brazil. Party to hip hop rhythms from the USA and rap from Denmark. Hop on the journey as Percussionist Thomas Ousager breaks with everyday drumming, fires up the Express and whizzes away.
Trommerum Express is a different kind of concert that takes kids out into the world. Based on drums and percussion instruments, we will go on a journey to the countries from which the instruments originate. Here, we play and experience rhythms, song, dance and movement from other cultures together.
Despite great distances, language barriers and cultural divisions, we learn that music and rhythms are universal. No matter where we come from, we can always be united in music.
Thomas Ousager is a sought-after percussionist and has over the years played with a myriad of Danish and foreign artists, such as Carsten Knudsen, Dario Campeotto, Peter AG, Bobo Moreno, Søs Fenger and På Slaget 12. He has toured with Peter Brem Big Band and has been featured on many CD releases with other artists, on DVD with, among others, Neighbors & Friends, as well as in TV shows.
He is currently playing in Weather Report Project and "Step inside a Bigband" with Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, which can also be heard at this year's jazz festival.
Thomas Ousager brings two competent and vibrant musicians on stage who, alongside him, will bring kids on an exciting journey into the wonderful and diverse world of music.
On the bass, we have Søren Jensen, who is in the children's band Skrallebang, and on guitar Kristian Nilsen, known from the band Clazz, and who has accompanied loads of Danish soloists such as Peter A.G, Sanne Salomonsen and Ida Corr.
