Gypsy jazz is a form of jazz that originated in France in the 1930s. In its original form, it is characterized by the lack of brass and rhythm instruments. It is usually played on two guitars, a double bass and, possibly, a violin. Sometimes a clarinet and / or an accordion is added.

The music style is based on Romani music from Central Europe combined with French musette and swing.
