Exploring the sound limits of the guitar
Yngel is a guitar duo that pushes the boundaries of the guitar's sound utility. With preparations, extended techniques and alternative ways of playing, Yngel challenges the common perception of the guitar.
They use simple tools like stones and metal objects to explore and merge various approaches to the guitar and its sound, compositional as well as improvisational.
Yngel gets just as much inspiration from free jazz and punk as from classical music and folklore. In the past year, they have toured extensively in Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, England and Denmark.
The duo originates from the Copenhagen underground scene. Jazz Special described their first album as a "Post-everything-we-have-had-before-release. Post-composition, post-metal, post-folk and post-African music, post-avant-garde, post-funk, post-minimalist, etc.”
Additionally, they called the album "the most exciting jazz album of 2015!"
