Tight and playful ensemble

Peter Vuust and Mads Bærentzen have explored the duo format at a number of concerts over the years. Therefore, one may expect a tight ensemble and playful concert with a mix of standards and original compositions.

As the man behind the keys in the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Mads Bærentzen has established himself as one of Denmark's top jazz pianists for many years. With his own Mads Bærentzen Trio, he has released a number of albums in collaboration with Morten Ramsbøll (b) and Kristian Leth (drm).

Mads Bærentzen released his first solo album in 2012 and, in 2015, the follow-up solo album Natten er så stille with renditions of a number of songs by the composer C. E. F. Weyse. Over the years, he has played with a large number of great jazz names such as Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves, Cæcilie Norby and Chris Minh Doky.

Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus / Aalborg, head of the Center for Music in the Brain and, additionally, one of the country's busiest sidemen.

He has been featured on more than 90 records and with international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson and Jukkis Uotila.

Peter Vuust is known for his groovy and responsive backing as well as extremely melodious solos. As a composer and bassist, he has released six albums, most recently Leaves of Love featuring Lars Jansson (p), Veronica Mortensen (voc) and Peter Asplund (trp).
