From an airy whisper to a heavy storm

This fills the room with the energy and sound of six strong vocals united in a rolling wave of polyphony, dissonance and epic poetic themes.

The music twists between almost being an organ piece, where the air pressure of the six pipes can sometimes knock you over, and being a soft, circular ear massage with air currents as fine and fragile as the evening fog.

Between composed passages and expressive free improvisation, the different expressions and personalities blend into a collectively strong universe.

Maria Dybbroe is a saxophonist and composer in the boiling epicenter of the Danish improv scene.

As part of the opening of Klub Primi, Copenhagen's new breathing space for cross-over and experimental music, Maria Dybbroe wrote a commissioned work for optional instrumentation, which was the start of Coriolis – an ensemble consisting of six woodwinds with experience in everything from experimental punk / jazz, from, e.g., the band Selvhenter to classical contemporary music, jazz and improv.

In addition to the thoroughly arranged piece of Coriolis, the music is based on Maria Dybbroe's visions of form and instrumentation, which has created the starting point for how the band improvises together in natural transitions between solo / duo parties to a full-size ensemble.

The concert is part of:

Two-day improv festival at COLABS

The Community, COLABS and Knud's Kiosk host a two-day festival from 17 - 18 July filled with experimental music and improvisation.

Imagine two summer nights where the garage door open and you go inside to be enthralled by the experimental sounds in the light of the mirrorball or head outside a enjoy a glass of wine in the sun in between the shows in the small yard in front of COLABS.

Spanning generations, we present some of the most interesting acts from the Aarhus scene combined with artists from the pulsating Copenhagen free jazz scene.

There will be DJs before, after and between the shows and cheap food and beer will be sold. A jazz party awaits.
