Music and stories that make jazz history present

Klüvers Kvartet's repertoire consists of original compositions written by, e.g., Thelonius Monk, Keith Jarrett, Abdullah Ibrahim, Egberto Gismonti and Dexter Gordon.

Jens Klüver delivers an interesting and exciting musical presentation with his great knowledge of jazz history and his many anecdotes about the great American jazz musicians over the years. It helps put the listening experience into perspective.

Jens Klüver graduated a clarinetist from the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus / Aalborg in 1978, but is best known for playing alto sax. In 1977, he formed the big band Bred Ymer, which soon changed its name to Klüvers Big Band. For 35 years, Jens Klüver was in charge of the big band as bandleader and artistic director.

During the Klüvers Big Band years, he treasured musical education and presented rhythmic music to a wider audience, especially through school concerts. Under his leadership, the big band, as the first and only so far, managed to be recognized as a basic rhythmic ensemble and thus be eligible for state funding. In 2002, Jens Klüver received an honorary edition of the Ben Webster Prisen-award for his lifelong work with jazz music in Aarhus, and, in 2012, he received the Danish Musician's Union's honorary award.

Pianist Esben Tjalve grew up in Denmark but moved to London in September 2000 to study at The Royal Academy Of Music, and later he received a Master's in composition from The Guildhall School Of Music.

Esben Tjalve has been part of the English jazz scene for 17 years and has also composed music for movies, TV and documentary broadcasts. He has previously released an album with the band name Red Kite, which is also set to release a new album in the fall of 2019.

Hannes Riepler is a guitarist from Austria. He studied jazz guitar in Amsterdam and moved to London in 2006 to attend the Guildhall School of Music. Here, he quickly became part of the interesting London jazz scene and has played with both young and old jazz musicians. He recently released the album Wild Life featuring the American saxophonist Chris Cheek.

Torben Bjørnskov is a prominent musician on the Danish jazz scene and has contributed to a large number of albums – several as a solo act with a special focus on the Nordic influence in the music, although his musical background is strongly influenced and inspired by American jazz tradition. He has toured most of Europe with detours to the US and Mexico.
