Between avant-garde jazz and modern compositional music

With this concert, Olga Witte has created a cohesive piece for pipe organ and trumpets.

Witt's music exists in the tension between avant-garde jazz and modern compositional music. For this concert, she will also incorporate different principles from Balinese gamelan, a music type that she has studied for the past 15 years, though jazz remains at the forefront.

The concert is made up of four acts and moves from sonic states over free passages and uptempo bebop to a beautiful ballad.

The music, written for improvising musicians as instruction with varying degrees of precision, is interpreted by free-jazz bassoonists Jens Balder and Andy Jarosinski, while Witte takes her place at the church organ.
