Good melodies and attentive improvisation

Farbror is a new trio on the Danish jazz scene. Here, saxophonist Johannes Gammelgaard gets together with two long-time collaborators: Jens Mikkel Madsen on double bass and Johannes Berg on drums. Together, they play original compositions that mix good melodies and catchy bass lines with attentive improvisation.

The three musicians know each other from the Aarhus jazz scene, where they have performed together in various constellations. During their college years, they have been around places like Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki, returning with new skills and inspiration.

Now, they have formed a trio based on their desire to play as freely and dynamically as possible - and see where it leads in terms of new musical detours, shortcuts, and escape routes.

The name Farbror is taken from Sweden, where it is commonly used about an older gentleman, often with somewhat dubious humor, a bit like the Danish "onkel". In addition, all band members are proud of being uncles themselves!
