Nordic tone, dusty krautrock, explosive free jazz

Dancer is a new Danish trio consisting of the three experienced musicians Jakob Buchanan, Nikolaj Heyman, and Thomas Eiler.

Earlier this year, their debut album I was released on the Aarhus-based record label Mastermind Rec. The album is a result of a clash of three musical worlds:

Jakob Buchanan, trumpet player and award-winning composer with a background in lyrical ECM jazz (Jakob Bro, Marilyn Mazur, and others).

Nikolaj Heyman, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer with experience from the international rock scene (Giant Sand, Mark Lanegan, and others).

Thomas Eiler, drummer from the harder-hitting, all-encompassing impro and avant-garde scene (Svin, Bad Astma, and others).

Driven by their newly discovered curiosity and search for new challenges, the three of them got together to record for two days in Nikolaj Heyman's vacation home in Northern Jutland.

This resulted in a wondrous mix of Nordic tone, dusty krautrock, and explosive free jazz. With eclecticism and laser-focus, the trio's references span time and space and meet in a pulsating reservoir of musical ideas.
