Original jazz and storytelling soundscapes

This concert features an unusual musical encounter. You will hear newly composed jazz that goes into a musical clinch with soundscapes inspired by the sound of the city and the people of Aarhus.

Sound designer Søren Ipland has recorded and composed the sound of the city and its human voices. A number of atmospheric soundscapes have emerged that provide a soundtrack to the history and present state of Aarhus.

The composed soundscapes revolve around the cultural patchwork that the city consists of today, and as such, the music is "world music".

Jazz pianist Esben Tjalve, having returned to Denmark after ten years in London's vibrant music scene, has composed the music that accompanies the concert's soundscapes.

Jens Jefsen and Ulrik Bisgaard, who play together in several jazz constellations, merge into the solid and swinging foundation for Ipland and Tjalve's compositions.
