Esben Tjalve (p), Torben Bjørnskov (b), Frederik Bülow (drm)

Original compositions and select standards

The trio's members have all played together in different constellations at Erlings Jazz- and Ølbar in Aarhus, and it never goes unnoticed when they unleash their instruments.

Expect a vivid mix of improvisation, groove, swing, and intensity with a touch of beauty that only music can deliver.

Pianist Esben Tjalve grew up in Denmark but moved to London in 2000 to study at The Royal Academy Of Music. He later earned a master's in Composition from The Guildhall School Of Music. For 17 years he has been a part of the English jazz scene and has also composed music for films, television, radio drama, and documentaries. He recently released the album Theory of Colours with his band Red Kite.

Torben Bjørnskov is a prominent musician on the Danish jazz scene and has been featured on a large number of records - several of his own with a special focus on the Nordic elements in music, although his musical background is strongly influenced by the American jazz tradition. He has toured most of Europe - with detours to the US and Mexico. Torben Bjørnskov received the award for “Best Soloist” at the international jazz competition in Getxo, Spain, 1994.

Frederik Bülow graduated with a Nordic Master in Jazz from The Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, and The Rotterdam Conservatory. He won a Danish Music Award in 2014 with his band Bangin 'Bülow's Nice Jazz Quartet and has toured in Europe, USA, Russia, Guinea, and Greenland.
