Trio jazz led by a colorful and temperamental trumpet player

Jesper Riis (b. 1969) is known as a trumpet player, composer, arranger, and conductor.

For almost 30 years, he has toured and recorded with numerous established names on the Danish and international music scene, where his colorful and temperamental trumpet playing has made him a much sought-after musician.

Jesper Riis graduated from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen in 1994. He spent the last year at the Conservatory at Florida International University. where he studied with the legendary Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval.

From 1996 to 1998, he attended a two-year composer and arranger training course led by Bob Brookmeyer.

In November 2000, the CD CELLULAR - Jesper Riis' first solo performance was released. CELLULAR was nominated for a Danish Music Award the following year. In 2016, the duo album RECONNECT was released - the result of a reunion with New York-based Israeli pianist Alon Yavnai.
