Original and boundary-pushing music

With no doubt, the best accordion player in the world. That is what the world-famous pianist Joe Zawinul said about Lelo Nika. And now you have the chance to experience Lelo Nika Trio together with TipToe BigBand.

For 20 years, Serbian Lelo Nika, along with Swedish bass player Thommy Andersson, have developed a new, cutting-edge sound inspired by their respective cultures. The trio, with George Mihalache from Romania as the third member, has played all over the world with many different bands of various sizes.

Now, they will be doing it again with music arranged for TipToe BigBand, which once again attempts to renew the traditional big band genre. The music ranges from humorous and virtuoso to the dark and intense and is developed with great respect for each other's traditions.

The constellation is unique, the music is original and the willingness to break boundaries and bring people closer together is itself a feat.

Lelo Nika is universally recognized as one of the most important accordionists in the world and has played with the likes of Joe Zawinul, Richard Bona, and Manolo Badrena. Lelo Nika was born in Serbia, but has lived in Denmark most of his life. For the last 8 years, he has lived in Malmö, Sweden.

As a sought-after bassist with his lively and natural style, Thommy Andersson has moved and grounded numerous groups and genres – in pop and rock, jazz, and crossover. He has written and arranged for string quartets, symphony orchestras, and big bands. He plays with, among others, the New Jungle Orchestra, Alex Riel and Josefine Cronholm, and others.

George Mihalache is a master of his instrument and has worked with numerous constellations in many genres in Denmark. Among others, he has played with Peter Bastian.

Tiptoe Bigband is the professional big band of the island of Funen and is based in Odense. The band has existed since 1994, is an active part of the professional big band scene in Denmark. It counts some of the best musicians, composers, and arrangers with connections to the Funen music scene.

Tiptoe Bigband's vision is to take on the big band format by constantly seeking artistic challenges in various musical expressions. They seek to renew the great orchestra sound through creative musical collaborations that go beyond the big band tradition.

Koncerten kan opleves til Ridehuset Swinger, der igen i år danner rammerne for store musikalske oplevelser og god stemning. Ridehuset Swinger arrangeres af Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.
