Duo jazz with two elite Danish jazz musicians

Join us for a unique afternoon in the company of pianist Nikolaj Hess and bassist Peter Vuust, who both belong to the absolute elite of Danish jazz. Over the years, they have played in constellations around the world, but will at Salling ROOFTOP perform as a duo with both standards and their own compositions.

Nikolaj Hess is one of the most frequently requested pianists in both Danish and international contexts. He has released Micro Chapters, Rhapsody, and more. With 3xHess, he won the award for jazz release of the year at DMA 2014 for the album Music for Mum and Dad. In addition, he contributed his own music toLars Von Trier's film Melancholia. He has also been very active on the record and concert front with Nikolaj Hess Trio, Hessismore, Hess / Skou, and Caroline Henderson. Over time, he has played with names like Lee Konitz, Benny Golson, Etta Cameron, and many others.

Peter Vuust is a professor at Aarhus University and the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus / Aalborg, head of the Center for Music in the Brain, and is also one of the country's busiest sidemen. He has been featured on more than 90 records, including with several international jazz stars such as Tim Hagans, Mal Waldron, Ted Curson, and Jukkis Uotila. He is known for his groovy and responsive backing and extremely melodic solo playing. As a composer and bassist, he has released six albums, most recently the CD Leaves of Love featuring Lars Jansson (p), Veronica Mortensen (voc), and Peter Asplund (trp).
