The finest Scandinavian vocal jazz

Malene Mortensen is one of Denmark's exciting younger singers, even though she has been around for many years. She has enjoyed great success in France, where she has been in the top 10, and is a frequent guest in Germany and the rest of Scandinavia.

The reason becomes clear when you hear how she can interpret a beautiful melody so that it goes straight into the soul of the listener. On her latest jazz album Can’t Help It (2014), she mixes her own compositions with the immortal standard repertoire of jazz. It is both beautiful, intense, and groovy.

After many years of singing together, Malene Mortensen released an album in 2019 with the talented pianist Ole Kock Hansen – At elske er at leve – with songs composed by Kai Normann Andersen.

That same year, she started going in a more electronic direction in collaboration with musician and producer Carsten Skov – music made for dancing with three singles released in 2019 / 20.

In 2021, Malene Mortensen has joined the Cowbell family, Benjamin Koppel's record company, with Benjamin Koppel and Mark Chemnitz as producers and musicians and in addition Henrik Møller on bass and Eddi Jarl on drums.

Summer jazz festival at Klostertorvet
On Friday 9 July, Café Smagløs kicks off a week-long festival with music and good times on the city's coziest square. The square has been set up according to COVID-19 rules and we look forward to seeing you.

Through Saturday 17 July, our wonderful guests will be able to experience outdoor concerts and enjoy beer, wine, food, and cocktails at the tables.
