A unique voice in improvised jazz

Signe Emmeluth is a Danish saxophonist and composer who trained at the Jazz School in Trondheim and currently lives in Oslo. Her playing is easily recognizable due to her sharp and unique tone.  

Melodies with rapid octave changes and a range spanning from naive and playful to brutal primal warfare are some of the hallmarks of Signe Emmeluth's expression. 

She has gradually become a familiar voice in improvised music in the Nordic countries with her own bands such as Emmeluth's Amoeba and Mudskipper, as well as performing frequently with the Trondheim Orchestra. In 2021, her commissioned work Physicality in / emotion for this particular band premiered at Moldejazz.

Signe Emmeluth has also worked with the likes of John Edwards, Mats Gustafsson, Paal Nilssen-Love, and Mette Rasmussen.
