New music and interpretation of the saxophone sound

Musikhuset will be swinging when the Nikola Bankov Band takes the stage on July 14 at 10 pm alongside trumpeter Lars Søberg Andersen of Aarhus Jazz Orchestra.

The audience can look forward to hearing a string of original tunes from the band's latest album Dream Chaser, featuring world star Randy Brecker, as well as songs from the band's first release Bright Future. The music is a fusion of jazz, rock, and electronic elements, with Nikola Bankov reinterpreting the saxophone sound using effects pedals. This new music will inspire and add new colors to the musical palette.

Nikola Bankov Band is an international modern jazz group consisting of five up-and-coming musicians based in Aarhus. At only 23 years old, Nikola Bankov, who has been described as a "Bright young cat with fresh grooves" - (All About Jazz), leads the band. Nikola is a winner of the prestigious Danish Music Awards and is also mentioned in Forbes 30 under 30 magazine. He hails from Slovakia and is currently based in Aarhus.

Lars Søberg Andersen is one of the sharpest trumpet players on the Danish jazz scene. Søberg comes from Norway but is based in Copenhagen, and is a regular member of Aarhus Jazz Orchestra's trumpet section. Søberg is an extremely versatile soloist, playing everything from big-band jazz, Nordic jazz, and bebop to classical church music.
