A Tribute to Diane Shuur and Count Basie 

Randers Big Band originated in 1980 when it was founded by Palle Hundborg. Since then, the band has undergone major musical developments. With his tenacious and motivating commitment, the band's musical leader Ole Koch Sørensen has for many years, until 2011, contributed to Randers Big Band being counted among the country's best-playing big bands, especially in traditional swing music.

Organizer and trumpeter Jesper Riis took over the management from 2011-2012 and was very much responsible for diversifying the repertoire into a lot of different styles. From 2012 until the beginning of 2018, the band was led by Nicolai Bøgelund, and from 2018 to 2020, Peter Brem was at the helm, before Nicolai returned in 2021. 

Over the years, Randers Big Band has participated in many festivals at home and abroad and traveled on concert tours in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, USA, Brazil, Canada, and England. Most recently, the band played in Berlin at a concert at b-Flat. 

This concert is a tribute to Count Basie and Diane Schuur. The program for the day is made up of titles from the album released in 1987 – Diane Schuur & The Count Basie Orchestra – as well as instrumental Basie tracks.
