Shiva's Dance – Indian and Electronic

At this year's jazz festival, Denmark's largest, most experimental, and not least the most playful rhythmic ensemble Blood Sweat Drum + Bass (BSD+B) will present the fruit of the last 20 years of genre-mixing collaborations and concert productions.

BSD+B has previously worked with composer Wayne Siegel, including at Aarhus Jazz Festival back in 2011.

This year, the band celebrates Wayne Siegel's 70th birthday by resuming this collaboration and performing a new adaptation of his work Shiva's Dance, originally written for Athelas Sinfonietta + Motion Tracking System.

This time, an Indian touch is added to the collaboration, as the Indian flute virtuoso Shashank Subramanyam has agreed to participate and add new compositions to the concert, which will also feature Turid Guldin on vocals and Sofus Forsberg on electronica.

Shashank Subramanyam has been a frequent guest in Denmark, including with Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra, and he previously participated in Blood Sweat Drum + Bass' World Experience Tour in 2021.

The music has been specially arranged for this occasion by Jens Christian "Chappe" Jensen in close collaboration with the soloists and Palle Mikkelborg.

The concert is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and Aarhus Municipality.
