Young Talents from all over Europe Unfold

Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and Jazzfabrikken are excited to present the results of International Youth Big Band Camp 2023 under the direction of Kathrine Windfeld.

International Youth Big Band Camp invites talented young music students from various European conservatories and MGK to play in a youth big band. For this concert, Kathrine Windfeld's talented big band will fill Musikhuset with the sound of her own wild compositions and more.

With her highly acclaimed four big band releases Aircraft (2015), Latency (2017), Orca (2020), and Determination (2021), Kathrine Windfeld's name has quickly transcended the borders of Scandinavia, earning her countless awards and rave reviews in international publications such as Downbeat (USA), Le Monde (FR), and Jazzthing (DE).

Kathrine Windfeld has collaborated with top-class bands such as Frankfurt Radio Big Band (DE), Bohuslän Big Band (SE), and DR Big Band (DK). Her ambitious work has also inspired international acts such as Mike Stern, Seamus Blake, and Gilad Hekselman to share the stage with her.

In 2020, she was the only European jazz musician to win the prestigious Rising Stars Jazz Award in London with a tour of seven top festivals in Europe.

Jazzfabrikken is a three-year regional development project, starting in 2019, which will contribute to strengthening the musical food chain and talent development in rhythmic music. The project focuses on talent development at all levels. Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, Aarhus Music School, and the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus are behind the project, which is supported by the Central Denmark Region and others.
