Music from Warmer Shores
Jakob Elvstrøm is the saxophonist and composer behind the chillout project Bird Reynolds, which borrows equal parts of its name from legendary alto saxophonist Charlie "Bird" Parker and iconic 70s actor Burt Reynolds.
The composition, the programming of the music and, not least, the saxophone playing is an experience.
The music is based on the electronic genre Chillout, which is characterized by not being too fast and often borrowing elements from South American bossa nova and jazz. Music that emerged in sunny locations where you don't have to run to keep warm.
Jakob Elvstrøm graduated as a saxophonist from the rhythmic department of the Royal Academy of Music in 1995. For the past 25 years, he has made a living playing funky jazz on his alto saxophone. He has often played with some of the best Danish jazz musicians such as Kjeld Lauritsen, Stefan Pasborg, Uffe Steen, Jesper Thilo, Jakob Bro, Cecilie Norby, Veronica Mortensen, and many more.
In recent years, he has also been featured as a saxophonist in several musicals, most recently the David Bowie musical Lazarus at Aarhus Theater and in 2022 at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen.
Jakob has released five solo CDs with funk and jazz.
