Young Jazz Trio with the Courage to Experiment and Improvise
Frederik Blæsild Vuust is a composer, pianist, and singer living in Aarhus. Frederik has his musical roots in traditional jazz and free improvisation. Through his work, he explores experimental, textual, and theoretical expressions in improvised music.
During Aarhus Jazz Festival, Frederik curates the afternoon music program at Tir na nÓg. For this concert, he plays in a trio with Jeff Wagner and Viktoria Søndergaard.
Jeff Wagner is a guitarist who, despite his young age, has studied and performed in Europe and the USA, written music for film and theater, and worked with numerous artists. He has studied with some of the best guitarists (Julian Lage, Lage Lund, and Jakob Bro) and some of the most exciting composers (Signe Lykke and Sune Køter Kølster, among others).
He has worked with a wide range of musicians, from Lo-Fi producer Moo Latte to rap prodigy Sulka, satirical poet Veronika Katinka, Absalon String Quartet, and rock band Nausia.
Viktoria Holde Søndergaard is a young, fearless vibraphonist, composer, and leader of the band Baryl, who in 2021 stormed onto the Danish jazz scene with the debut album Allerede mandag?. In 2022, it became Album of the Week on P8-jazz and subsequently became part of the channel's rotation.
In 2022, Baryl won JazzDanmark's Jazz Competition. Later that year, Viktoria won the Tivoli Jazz Prize and Aarhus Jazz Talent, among other things for her "compassionate, fearless, mature and personal playing and musicality".
