Intense and Swinging Duo Ensemble

Jens Christian Kwella and Peter Friis have played together for many years in a wide range of bands and as backing for many well-known soloists in various genres.

Occasionally, they have practiced the duo format and the intense ensemble playing that the format demands. Their repertoire is a mix of original tunes and jazz standards with a focus on melodicism and a good swing.

Jens Christian Kwella has been a mainstay of the Aarhus jazz scene for 25 years, having released seven albums and been featured on several more.

Peter Friis is one of the most sought-after bassists in Aarhus and has played with Jesper Thilo, Finn Odderskov, Trio Before, and many others.

On a trip with Jazz Boat

Get in the festival spirit on board the ship MS HELENE as it transforms into a Jazz Boat and the deck fills with great music.

The city's top jazz talents will visit the ship throughout Aarhus Jazz Festival. The ship leaves the dock and goes on an evening harbor tour around Aarhus Ø and past the old fishing port. All while the paddle wheels complement the wonderful jazz rhythms on board.

The tour starts in the inner harbor and continues to Bassin 7 and the new district of Aarhus Ø.
