A Roaring Sax and Piano Meeting

Saxophonist Jens Søndergaard has been a prominent soloist on the jazz scenes in both Copenhagen and Aarhus for decades. For a number of years, he was the organizer of the legendary Monday Nights at Jazzbar Bent J in Nørre Allé.

Wherever he appears, you can expect energetic bebop and Latin music ranging from Charlie Parker and Lee Konitz (with whom Jens has recorded several albums) to Cannonball Adderly, Benny Golson, and Swedish Lasse Gullin.

For this concert, Jens Søndergaard has selected a festival group with none other than the current super pianist Martin Schack, drummer Kristian Leth and a faithful acquaintance from his time at Bent J, bassist Jesper Carlsen.

The stage is set for a roaring sax and piano summit at Hantwerk with a contemporary look back at the history of jazz.
