One Life, One Story, One Concert

This concert brings the phenomenon that is Monica Zetterlund to life, if only for a moment on a Friday night in Aarhus.

A concert centered around beautiful Swedish songs and a portrait of a woman struggling to find herself and do what she wants to do – and making it fit in with society's and the public's expectations.

We hear about her turbulent relationship with men, drinking, loneliness, and lovesickness, but also about her relationship with her father, stage fright, and the struggle against the Law of Jante and small-town mentality.

The music is in very good hands with this group of seasoned jazz musicians: Morten Haugshøj (guitar), Thomas Sejthen (bass), and Jesper Bo Knudsen (drums).

The Iranian-Danish singer Samara Bahrami leads the group with a rare linguistic virtuosity that makes her credible and present in the beautiful interpretations of the Swedish back catalog and in the unfolding of the songs and lyrics. 

Stories and anecdotes about Monica Zetterlund's extraordinary life make the music even more present and intense.
