Powerful and Festive Trumpet Summit

It's going to be truly festive when Jesper Riis joins forces with Mike Bogart in a blistering trumpet party.

The two gentlemen are among the best on their instrument, and now they're on the same stage to amaze, overwhelm, and massage your ears with world-class trumpet playing.

If there's one concert you can't miss, it could well be this little gem at Klostertorvet.

Mike Bogart is a versatile musician and songwriter with an impressive career spanning several decades. Drawing from deep musical roots, his talent spreads across many genres and boundaries.

Best known for his trumpet and trombone playing, Bogart has played in many famous bands and groups, including the legendary Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau Big Band in the late 1990s.

Between 2000 and 2009, he was the lead trumpeter, trombonist, and background vocalist for the soul supergroup Tower of Power, appearing on several of their albums, including the critically acclaimed 40th Anniversary (live at The Fillmore Auditorium).

His versatility as a musician is highlighted by his collaborations with a wide range of artists, such as Aerosmith, Puff Daddy, and Neil Diamond – one of his mother's favorites.

After a hiatus, Mike Bogart is back in the Tower of Power and enjoying being on stage with his old friends.

During his break from touring and recording, he decided to focus on the spiritual path and continue his studies in jazz at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London. He has since dedicated himself to composing and recording his own music – a unique blend of soul-influenced straight-ahead jazz and Hasidic Jewish nigunim (religious songs).

Jesper Riis is known as a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and conductor. For almost 30 years, he has toured and recorded with a large number of established names on the Danish and international music scene, where his colorful and spirited trumpet playing has made him a highly sought-after musician.

Jesper Riis graduated from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen in 1994. He spent the last year of his conservatory studies at Florida International University, where he studied with the legendary Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval.

In November 2000, the CD Cellular was released – Jesper Riis' first solo record, which was nominated for a Danish Music Award later that year.

Jesper has played, recorded, and arranged for everyone and everything on the Danish music scene. He has appeared on hundreds of albums and is one of the most sought-after studio musicians and arrangers.

The two gentlemen will be joined at the concert by Jonathan Huber (artist in residence) and Mark Chemnitz on keys, Oliver McEwan on bass, and Eddi Jarl on drums.

Tower of Power with Mike Bogart can be heard the following day - Monday, July 10 at 8:00 pm - at Musikhuset Aarhus.
